Topic A: Microbial communities (natural or synthetic), co-cultures and cascades of microorganisms for new products, value-added products and supply services as well as sustainable industrial processes.
We have described rich microbial communities in root vegetables. These communities can be used as probiotics for improving human health. The microbial communities are strongly influenced by the plant species, growth conditions and storage conditions. We propose a collaboration on investigating the microbial communities in root vegetables and looking for potential development as probiotics. The health effects might include alleviating the side effects of antibiotic consumption and food intolerance.
