Topic B: Pure cultures, cell free systems and enzymes for new products, value-added products and supply services as well as sustainable industrial processes.
The Water & Waste Research Group at Ceit-IK4 has a wide experience in Biotechnology, specifically in the cultivation of microorganisms, optimisation of culture media, enzyme production, production of industrially relevant products, immobilization of microorgansims and enzymes, biocatalysis, bioreactor design, bioprocess development, downstream processes, biodegradation and waste valorisation.
The group has worked with the most important companies in the environmental sector such as technology provider companies (Acciona, Abengoa, Veolia, Praxair, Air Liquide, etc.), water authorities (Bilbao, Añarbe, Gipuzkoa, Navarra, etc.) and industrial end users (Petronor, Pepsico, Holmen, Gutarra, etc.). More recently, Ceit-IK4 is a relevant partner of the LIFE ANADRY project which aims to demonstrate the technical-economic viability of new concepts of anaerobic digestion technology for small to medium size WWTPs.
"Ceit-IK4 is a private multidisciplinary non-profit RTO closely connected to TECNUN, the Faculty of Engineering of the University of Navarra (Spain). Its mission is to provide the industry with services through the development of technical research projects as well as to form young researchers and PhD students within a commercially productive framework. Ceit-IK4 is a technology centre specialised in applied research projects for industrial companies; therefore, it has professionals working in high TRL industrial projects with more than thirty years of experience in projects in collaboration. Ceit-IK4 consists of 4 Divisions: Materials & Manufacturing, Energy & Transport, Water & Health and ICT. It has a staff of more than 260 employees and more than 55 PhD students and an annual budget over 15,5 M€.
Ceit-IK4 is currently involved in more than 20 H2020 projects: Eurofusion, Ersat-Eav, Alise, Roll2Rail, Ebsf-2, Nanotun3D, I-Heero, Mobnet, Temgir, E-Tsin, Tr4Emacs, Dream, C-Mobile, FabSurfWar, Nanostencil and Propart as partners. Besides, Ceit-IK4 coordinates 5 projects: NEOHIRE (NMBP-2017), LASER4SURF (FOF-2017), AIOSAT (GALILEO-2017), SIMFAL (CS2-CFP03-2016) and SIA (GALILEO-2017). Finally, Ceit-IK4 participates in three LIFE+ projects (LIFE ANADRY, LIFE MCUBO and LIFE VERTALIM) and one ECHORD++ instrument (HOMEREHAB). "
