Topic A: Microbial communities (natural or synthetic), co-cultures and cascades of microorganisms for new products, value-added products and supply services as well as sustainable industrial processes.
We are interested in joining a consortium as a partner providing the RRI component. We offer profound experience in RRI including Innovation Studies, Science and Technology Studies, integrated impact assessment (including, economic, technological and societal aspects), public and stakeholder engagement, foresight activities, and creating spaces for reflection and discussion.
The Fraunhofer Institute for Systems and Innovation Research (ISI) is one of 72 institutes of the Fraunhofer Gesellschaft, Europe's largest research organisation for application-oriented research in Europe.
ISI is one of the leading innovation research institutes in Europe. It complements the more technically-oriented institutes of the Fraunhofer Gesellschaft by focusing on socio-technical and socio-economic aspects of innovation processes. Scientists from various disciplines work at ISI, including life sciences, engineering, social and political sciences as well as economy. This allows for a truly interdisciplinary approach.
One major aim of the research conducted by ISI is to give strategic advice to decision-makers in innovation policy, research performing organisations, innovating companies and other stakeholders.
In recent years, ISI has worked intensively on the concept of Responsible Research and Innovation (RRI) by developing comprehensive governance frameworks for RRI, and by implementing this concept both in research organisations, in companies and by fostering their close interaction with civil society organisations.
