3rd Call: Bio-based replacement products, technologies and processes
This project aims to evaluate the design and application possibilities of a packaging product that can serve as filling/insulation material that is grown from the root part of a fungi and various waste materials. The product will be characterized in terms of strength/weight ratio, durability and biodegradability, which are important in terms of packaging materials.

Ege University is a 65 year old state university that acts as a focal point for education, research, cultural and social activities in the city of Izmir and the Aegean region. Ege University has a wide array of academic units, nationally renowned research groups and modern Laboratories suitable for interdisciplinary and cross-sectoral projects in collaboration with different stakeholders. Today, Ege University has 15 faculties, 5 four-year and 10 two-year vocational training schools with special programmes jointly developed in collaboration with industry, 9 Institutes, 35 Research Centres. Ege University has numerous joint projects and active cooperation with regional universities, national organizations, regional and national stakeholders, more than 100 EU FP Projects and over 1000 nationally funded projects
Numerous facilitator units work in synergy therein, such as: Ege University Science and Technology Centre (EBILTEM–TTO) established in 1994 aiming to strengthen R&D activities and foster university-industry collaboration. Throughout the years it has evolved into a one-stop-shop delivering the whole range of technology transfer services. Today it provides comprehensive services as the official Technology Transfer Office of Ege University and is a valuable dissemination channel as being a part of the European Enterprise Network (EEN) by EBIC-EGE project.
