Project Abstract
The goal of the MeMBrane project is to develop more resistant cell membranes so that, for example, yeast can produce more alcohol. MeMBrane will characterise cells with high and low chemical tolerance, identify key differences in the make up of their membrane, and engineer these charateristics into new strains. The new improved microbes will be tested at scale and the best will be used by industry to grow chemicals, reducing our dependance on fossil fuels.

MeMBrane is funded by the ERA CoBioTech partners: BMBF, NWO, AEI, UKRI-BBSRC and co-funded by European Union.
