Project Abstract

The aim of OLEOFERM is to develop a cost-effective technology for the production of microbial oils from short-chain fatty acids produced during the anaerobic fermentation of organic waste. This will be achieved by linking the bioprocesses of anaerobic fermentation of organic waste and oleaginous fermentation in conjunction with deciphering the metabolic pathways of new microbial factories. The resulting technology will provide an alternative to biochemicals from fossil fuels and also overcome the limited availability, sustainability and high cost of conventional oleochemicals from vegetable oils and animal fats.

OLEOFERM is funded by the ERA CoBioTech partners: AEI, ANR and MIZS.
